Women artisans at Hajiganj Handicrafts use kaisa grass to weave beautiful baskets. In Spite of the poverty in this northern area of Bangladesh, these women producers are extremely enterprising, eager to make quality products as they earn their living by themselves.
Hogla Grass is a type of waterweed that grows in Bangladesh low-lying areas. Local fishermen always have to clear wild Holga to make the waterways unimpeded. At the same time, women are allowed to earn reasonable income by using this natural sustainable material to make baskets.
